Functional Relationships Diagram

The relationships between the various components within the Adult Mental Health Unit are best
described by Functional Relationships Diagrams.
The optimum External Relationships include:

  1. Patient access from a public circulation corridor with a relationship to the Main Entrance and Car Park
  2. Separate entry and access for staff or Police via a Service Corridor
  3. Access for services such as Supply and Housekeeping via a Service Corridor
  4. Optimum Internal Relationships should include the following:
  5. Reception and Waiting at the entrance with access to a mental health Consult Room
  6. Patient Bedrooms located on the perimeter
  7. Dining, Lounge and Activities Areas centrally located
  8. Staff Station located with visibility to all patient zones
  9. Support Areas located close to staff areas for ease of staff access
  10. Staff Offices and amenities located in a secure zone away from patient areas
